Some wonderful FA Cup action yesterday evening!!!
Hartlepool and Nottingham Forest were undoubtedly the stars of the day, dumping Stoke and Manchester City respectively out of the competition. Liverpool were taken the distance by Preston North End, but eventually proved to be too much for PNE, and ran out 2-0 winners. Arsenal beat Plymouth 3-1, but Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw by Southend. Central defender Peter Clarke headed home the equaliser for the Shrimpers in the 90th minute. Peterborough earned a third round replay with a battling 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion, but Forest Green’s dreams were shattered as Derby fought their way back to win 4-3. Torquay upset Blackpool 1-0 at Plainmoor, with Matt Green scoring the only goal of the game.
