Leaders Liverpool put in a lacklustre performance as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Tony Pulis’ Stoke City.

Arsenal needed a late goal from Nicklas Bendtner against Bolton to keep pace with Aston Villa, who beat bottom of the table West Brom 2-1 at Villa Park.

Everton beat Hull City 2-0 at Goodison Park in a game that saw six players getting yellow cards in the second half. Mikel Arteta and Marouane Fellaini were the scorers for the Toffees.

Sunderland came away with a valuable point from the Riverside, with Kenywne Jones cancelling out Afonso Alves’ opening strike late in the game.

Andy Carroll scored his first Newcastle goal as the Magpies drew 2-2 at home against Gianfranco Zola’s West Ham. Newcastle took the lead through Michael Owen, but fell behind at St.James Park after Craig Bellamy and Carlton Cole struck for the Hammers in a thirty minute period.
