Stoke City sign Henri Camara on loan
Wigan Athletic’s Senegalese striker Henri Camara has joined Stoke City on loan till the end of the season. The 31 year old has hardly featured for Wigan this season with the likes of Amr Zaki and Emile Heskey present in the side, and now with the additions of Mido and Hugo Rodallega, his chances for first team football seemed bleak at the JJB.
Camara joined the Latics from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2005 for a fee of £3million. He did enjoy his first two years at the JJB, but has since then been reduced to nothing more than a fringe player. He spent last season on loan at West Ham, but made only 10 appearances in what he described as a “waste”.
Camara has plenty of experience with relegation threatened sides, which is being seen as a valuable asset by Stoke boss Tony Pulis.
Stoke were also in the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Theofanis Gekas, but the Greek striker chose to move to Pompey instead.
Camara’s contract at Wigan expires this summer.
