Fulham 2-0 Manchester United
Fulham 2-0 Manchester United ( Murphy pen, Zoltan Gera)
Manchester United suffered back to back defeats for the first time in four years in the Premier League when Roy Hodgson’s Fulham beat them 2-0 at Craven Cottage. United had Paul Scholes sent off early in the first half, and Fulham skipper Danny Murphy converted the resulting penalty.
Fulham played well in the first half as their numerical superiority allowed them to exploit gaps in United’s midfield. However Ferguson’s half time change- Rooney for Berbatov swung the game back into United’s favour as the former Everton forward provided some much needed enthusiasm and skill into United’s game.
Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer was called on time and time again to keep his side in the game, and he made a double stop to deny Park and Ronaldo in what was United’s best chance of the game.
Late in the game substitute Zoltan Gera sealed three points with a well taken goal, and United’s woes were compounded when Rooney was sent off for allegedly throwing the ball away in an aggressive manner ( second bookable offence).
