Ferguson who left bottom of the Championship Peterborough in November due to unknown circumstances will now replace former preston manager Alan Irvine. Preston board and chairman Derek Shaw are very impressed with Ferguson’s managerial experience’s and previously hinted he could become the manager at Deepdale:

“Darren Ferguson did a fantastic job at Peterborough so he’s obviously in the frame,” said Shaw a week ago.

“We would be foolish not to consider him but there are several quality candidates out there.”
