Olympiakos have made a bid for Blackburn Rovers’ Argentine midfielder Mauro Formica. The Greek giants wish to take the unsettled playmaker on loan till the end of the season and have entered into talks with Blackburn over the same. Rovers boss Steve Kean has indicated that he doesn’t want to sell his key players but his hand may be forced as Formica’s already announced that he hasn’t been able to adjust to life in England.
However Rovers fans aren’t expected to be too pleased with Formica’s exit. The only other genuine player in the Argentine’s position is David Dunn, who has had his problems with injuries in recent times.
The 23 year old Formica joined Blackburn from Newell’s Old Boys last season.

Aston Villa’s Nathan Delfouneso has agreed to join Leicester City on a month long loan. Delfouneso, whom manager Alex McLeish agreed to let go of after the arrival of Robbie Keane, trained with his Leicester team mates yesterday. The deal’s not officially been announced but the youngster could make his Foxes debut as early as today evening when the Foxes play Southampton.
The 20 year old Delfouneso has represented England at various youth levels and can play both as a striker or an attacking winger. Born in Birmingham, he is a product of the Villa youth academy and made his European debut for them aged just 17.
However appearances have become tough for Delfouneso this season- he has started only twice under new gaffer Alex McLeish.
Kagawa content to stay at Dortmund
Japanese star Shinji Kagawa has indicated that he is content to stay at German champions Borussia Dortmund for the time being. The 22 year old’s performances at Westfalenstadion have seen him being linked with a number of European heavyweights, notably Manchester United and AC Milan, but the Japanese medio told German paper Die Welt that he had no intention of leaving Dortmund in the near future.
Kagawa is contracted to BVB till 2013. He joined them from Cerezo Osaka for just over a quarter million pounds ( £290,000) and has seen his value skyrocket to over £10m.
Kagawa is also a regular for the Japanese national football team and took part in their Asian Cup campaign last year.
Young Jamaican starlet on trial with Villa
According to reports in the Jamaican press, Aston Villa have taken young starlet Brian Brown Jr. on trial. The 19 year old, a product of Rusea’s High, has left for England to join Villa on a three week trial. Brown’s performance in youth football for Rusea have seen pundits raving about him as the next big thing in Jamaican football.
Currently, there are only two Jamaican grown players in the Premier League- Ricardo Gardner and Ricardo Fuller, but Brown’s idol will be Dwight Yorke, the Trinidad and Tobago star who excelled at Villa before becoming a household name with league giants Manchester United.
However work permit issues could become an issue even if he does succeed in his trial with Villa, as it did with Omar Cummings not too long ago.
